Penn Relays Winter Showcase – January 31, 2026
 
Due to facility capacity restrictions, boy's and girl's teams will compete in separate sessions. Acceptance into an event will only allow that athlete access to the facility during the session in which they are competing. The facility will be cleared of athletes and spectators between sessions.     
 
FINAL SCHEDULE
Girls Session
  • 8:15am: Doors open and warm-up begins
  • 8:50am: Oval warm-up ends, infield warm-up continues
  • 9:00am: 3000m – timed final – heats fastest to slowest  
  • 9:30am: 60m Hurdles Prelim
  • 9:55am: 60m Prelim
  • 10:20am: 400m – timed final – heats fastest to slowest 
  • 11:20am: 1 Mile – timed final – heats fastest to slowest  
  • 12:00pm: 60mH Final 
  • 12:05pm: 60m Final
  • 12:10pm: 800m – timed final – heats fastest to slowest 
  • 12:50pm: 200m – timed final – heats fastest to slowest 
  • 1:45pm: Distance Medley Relay – top 12 teams  
 
Facility cleared and opened for the boys teams. 
 
Boys Session
  • 2:15pm: Doors open and warm-up begins
  • 2:50pm: Oval warm-up ends, infield warm-up continues
  • 3:00pm: 3000m – timed final – heats fastest to slowest  
  • 3:25pm: 60m Hurdles Prelim
  • 3:45pm: 60m Prelim
  • 4:15pm: 400m – timed final – heats fastest to slowest 
  • 5:15pm: 1 Mile – timed final – heats fastest to slowest  
  • 6:00pm: 60mH Final 
  • 6:05pm: 60m Final
  • 6:10pm: 800m – timed final – heats fastest to slowest 
  • 6:50pm: 200m – timed final – heats fastest to slowest 
  • 7:45pm: Distance Medley Relay – top 12 teams  
 
The Penn Relays Winter Showcase is an NFHS sanctioned event in compliance with PIAA guidelines. Therefore, all high school athletes must be participating as part of their indoor track and field team. No unattached athletes or non-high school athletes will be allowed to compete.  
 
Bus drop off and parking:
  1. See map below for drop-off and pickup locations 
  2. No bus/van/car access via River Fields Drive
  3. Hollenback parking lot next to the facility is reserved for meet personnel and officials only
  4. Plan for a 2 block walk from drop-off points listed on map
  5. Parking is available in Penn Park Parking lot (lot used during Penn Relays) or the Penn Museum Parking Lot
  6. Where possible, public transportation is strongly encouraged. Penn Medicine Regional Rail station is right next to the facility. 
  7. ABSOLUTELY NO PICK-UP/DROP-OFFS ARE PERMITTED ON SOUTH STREET!
 
Tickets: 
 
  1. Events in the Ott Center will be ticketed and will require the purchase of a general admission ticket.  
  2. Tickets for the Penn Relays Winter Showcase can be purchased at the ticket booth upon arrival or via this link: https://pennathletics.evenue.net/events/TRK  
  1. Each session is a separate ticketed event.
 
Facility: 
  1. Jane and David Ott Center for Track & Field 
    1. 6 lane 200m fixed bank oval 
    2. 8 lane infield for sprints and hurdles 
      1. No outside blocks will be allowed in the facility 
  2. 1,150 spectator seats
    1. Athletes and coaches will not be permitted to put their bags in the spectator seating area
    2. A team bag drop location will be allocated for each program 
Seeding and heat and lane assignments:
  1. All heats will be set up based on the seed marks that were accepted when entries close. No adjustments will be made after the close of entries unless an athlete has been scratched. 
  2. 60m & 60m hurdles will have a prelim and final with the top 8 advancing to the final later in the schedule. 
  3. All other events will be timed finals that will run slow to fast. 
  4. In the 200m and 400m we will be utilizing NCAA lane assignment seeding. This means that we will take the top 20-25 in each of these events after entries close and will be placing them in preferred lanes accordingly.
Scratches and Clerking:  
  1. Send scratches ahead of time to Aaron Robison (pennrelays@upenn.edu).   
  2. For any additional running event scratches on meet day, please go to the clerking table.   
  3. You do not need to check-in your athletes!   
  4. FINAL CLERKING: Athletes in running events must report to the clerking area 30 minutes prior to the start of their event. Officials will escort athletes onto the oval or infield for final warm-ups.  
  5. Laned events will not need hip numbers. All hip numbers for non-laned events are to be picked up in the clerking area before being escorted to the starting line.   
Pacing: 
For all races 800m and longer we will be utilizing pace lights. Below is the summary of the pace of the pace lights. Pacing lights are subject to change based on final seeded heats.

En Route Timing
 
  1. For any event that is contested that goes further than the standard event in your state, we will be providing an en route time so you can use it for state qualification purposes. 
  2. En route timing will be provided for the following events:
    1. 60m dash - 55m en route
    2. 60m hurdles - 55m hurdles en route
    3. Mile - 1500m en route
    4. Mile - 1600m en route
  1. All of the events being contested are the PIAA state events and thus why they are being contested. 
 
On Running:
 
  1. Need new Spikes? On's got you covered. Try on the Cloudspike Citius for race day. Find the On tent near the throws cage.
 
Spikes: 1/4" pyramid spikes only (Spikes will be checked prior to competition)
