Franklin Field Policy for the Penn Relays

POLICIES & SERVICES

These policies have been implemented by the University of Pennsylvania for building security and patron safety. All guests and their belongings are subject to search by security personnel. Penn Athletics recommends bags 16"x16"x8" or smaller to expedite the security process at entrance gates. If prohibited items are found, entrance to the event will be denied. No items will be checked-in. Please arrive early. Thank you for your cooperation in making the Penn Athletic Facilities a safe environment. 

Permitted Items

  • Bags smaller than 16" x 16" x 8"
  • Soft sided seat backs and bench cushions that do not impede seat access
  • Sealed plastic water bottles and juice boxes/pouches
  • Food carried in a one gallon freezer bag. Limit one food bag per guest.
  • Medically necessary items after proper inspection
  • Blankets, opened and carried in
  • Binoculars
  • Hand-held camera for personal use. Cases must adhere to the bag policy.
  • Services animals with paperwork that aid guests with disabilities
  • Diaper Bags
  • Drawstring Bags
Prohibited Items
  • Bags, including duffel or equipment bags, larger than 16" x 16" x 8"
  • Metal, wooden or hard plastic seats with or without backs
  • Umbrellas
  • Coolers, glass bottles, and cans
  • Animals (except service dogs)
  • Fire Arms, Weapons and other items deemed dangerous/inappropriate
  • All poles/sticks, including tripods and selfie sticks
  • Smoking and all open flames
  • Video cameras and the use of video capable cell phones for commercial or mass distribution purposes
  • Strollers are not permitted inside the stadium or in the seating areas
  • Ticket scalping, trespassing, soliciting, peddling and loitering
  • Outside food not carried in a one gallon freezer bag or more than one food bag per guest
  • Large quantities of food items in containers such as pizza boxes or catering trays
  • Binocular or Camera Cases that contain metal, wood or hard plastic
  • Laser Pointers
  • Fireworks

ALCOHOL AND WEAPONS: Alcohol and/or weapons are not permitted inside any Penn athletic facility.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: PA announcements will be used only in the event of emergencies. Contact an event operations staff member with your needs.

ANIMALS: Animals are not permitted inside of Franklin Field with the exception of service animals for persons with disabilities.

BAG SEARCH: Large bags like duffel or equipment bags are prohibited from being brought into Franklin Field.  All bags are subject to search upon entry and within the facility.  Penn Athletics recommends bags 16"x16"x8" or smaller to expedite the security process at entrance gates.

BANNERS AND SIGNS: Signs are permitted in Franklin Field. Signs on poles or sticks are not permitted if they interfere with other guests. Signs may not obstruct the view of other spectators.

BOTTLES AND CANS: Bottles and Cans are prohibited inside Franklin Field. All spectators are subject to search at the gates, no spectators will be permitted inside the facility with bottles or cans.

CAMERA/VIDEO EQUIPMENT: Video cameras, audio equipment and cameras with professional lenses are permitted if they do not obstruct view or interfere with the game in any way. NO LASER POINTERS are permitted inside the stadium.

CHILD TICKET POLICY: Children two (2) years of age and under do not need a ticket to enter Franklin Field. They must be seated on a parent or guardian's lap and not interfere with the sight lines of other spectators. In order to receive a promotional item, children must have a ticket.

COMPLIMENTS, COMPLAINTS, AND COMMENTS: Patrons with questions, comments, criticisms, observations or otherwise may express it in person to any Penn Guest Services staff member.

FIRST AID: First aid is located at the West End of the Stadium. An ambulance Squad unit is on duty at each event. Notify a security guard, usher, or Penn Athletic Staff member if you are in need of medical assistance.

FACILITY SERVICE PROVIDERS:

  • Aramark: Provides Franklin Field with food and beverage services.
  • Contemporary Services Corporation (CSC): Event security that usher, take tickets and provide event security.
  • Penn Athletic Staff: Coordinate all event management.

FOOD/CONCESSIONS: Aramark is the exclusive concessionaire for Penn Athletics. Concession stands are located around the concourse and offer a wide variety of snacks, hot foods and beverages. Alcohol is neither sold nor permitted. Outside food and large quantities of food items in containers such as pizza boxes or catering trays are prohibited.

GAME DAY PUBLICATIONS / PROGRAMS: Programs are sold at each Entrance and at various other locations along the concourse during the relays.

GATE OPENING TIMES: Gates will typically open 1 hours prior to the scheduled start of the day.

GUIDELINES ON OPEN EXPRESSION FOR STUDENTS, FACULTY AND STAFF:  Penn Athletics adheres to the University of Pennsylvania's Guidelines on Open Expression. Any disruption that precludes Penn Athletic events from taking place will be addressed in accordance with the Guidelines on Open Expression. Those creating a disruption may be asked to provide a PennCard and leave the venue. Disruptors affiliated with Penn may be referred to the Office of Student Conduct (undergraduate, graduate, or professional students), appropriate Dean or Provost (faculty), or supervisor (staff). LOST AND FOUND: Lost and Found is located in the Franklin Field Ticket Office during the event. Any found items will be turned over to the Franklin Field Box Office.

MEDIA AND PUBLIC RELATIONS INQUIRIES: The University of Pennsylvania Athletic Communication staff will gather and assemble all facts that are of interest to the media. Please direct all questions or comments regarding media related issues to Penn Athletic Communication personnel. Post-game Press Conferences will be held in the Dunning Coaches Center.

MERCHANDISE: Merchandise is available in the throughout Franklin Field and Carnival Village. It is also available at www.shopthepennrelays.com.

PENN POLICE: Penn Police are onsite from the time the doors open until the event has ended. Please contact event security or usher if you need assistance.

RE-ENTRY: Is not permitted at the Penn Relays.

RESTROOMS: Restrooms for both men and women are located on the concourse of the stadium.

SCOREBOARD MESSAGES: Scoreboard messages are not available to the public.

SEAT BACKS: Seats with metal components or formed of hard plastic, with or without backs, are not permitted into the stadium. Soft sided seat backs or bench cushions that do not impede seat access behind you are permitted.

SMOKING: For the health and comfort of others, smoking is not permitted in the seating area of Franklin Field. 

TELEVISION BROADCASTS: Please check your local TV listings.

TICKET POLICY: Here at Penn, we value and support the enthusiasm of our spectators, however, we ask that you observe a certain "Code of Conduct". Please respect the rights of others surrounding you by acting appropriately. All patrons are responsible for their conduct as well as the conduct of their guests and persons occupying them. Violations may result in having the patron removed from the facility.

TICKET SCALPING: University of Pennsylvania Athletics denounces the sale of a game ticket at any price higher than the value of the ticket purchased.

UMBRELLAS: Umbrellas are not permitted into the stadium venue during the Penn Relays.

USHERS: Ushers will be located at each entrance to the reserved seating area to assist you with your seating or with any other needs.
