PHILADELPHIA – The Penn Relays is excited to host the 130th running of the Penn Relays on April 23-25, 2026 at Franklin Field.
Since the event's return in 2022, we've continued evolving the three-day meet to deliver an exceptional experience for athletes of every level and for spectators alike.
In 2022, one of the biggest updates was aligning the collegiate schedules for men and women, moving most of their competition to Friday and Saturday for both genders. We also expanded our professional reach with the Olympic Development events.
In 2023, we introduced a rotating format so high school girls would have the opportunity to feature their major events on Saturday (in alternating years with the boys), putting an added spotlight on the next generation of talent.
"The 130th Penn Relays is a celebration of legacy, passion, and unbreakable spirit of competition," said Frank Dolson Director of the Penn Relays, Steve Dolan. "For more than a century, Franklin Field has been a stage where dreams are chased, and history is made. As we look to 2026, we're excited to honor that tradition while inspiring the next generation of athletes to leave their mark on this incredible event."
Highlights from the 2025 Penn Relays
The latest edition of the Penn Relays delivered one of the most memorable weekends in meet history, as records fell across multiple events and powerhouse programs extended their legacies on the track and in the field.
Kingston College Wins Thrilling Boys' 4x400m
Kingston College held off a dramatic late surge to secure their fourth consecutive high school boys' 4x400m title, matching Manual (NY)'s century-old streak from 1907–1910. Their winning time of 3:05.93 ranks second all time at the Penn Relays, trailing only Calabar's 2018 high school world record of 3:03.79.
Bullis School stormed from fifth to second thanks to a stunning 43.99-second anchor leg from Quincy Wilson — the fastest 400m split ever recorded by a high school athlete at the Penn Relays. Bullis's total time of 3:06.31 shattered the 40-year-old U.S. high school record (3:07.40, Hawthorne CA, 1985). Wilson was named the
High School Boys' Relay Athlete of the Meet.
Notable splits: Wilson (Bullis) - 43.99, Marcinho Rose (Kingston) - 45.04, and Junir Gallimore (Calabar) - 45.70.
Hydel Extends Streak with Girls' 4x400m Record
Hydel continued its dominance in the high school girls' 4x400m, setting a new Penn Relays and Franklin Field record with 3:30.42, breaking their own 2022 mark of 3:32.77. The win marked Hydel's fourth consecutive title, ranking second only to Vere Technical's nine (1986–1994).
Bullis claimed second with the third-fastest time ever recorded at the Penn Relays.
Notable splits: Kellyann Carr (Edwin Allen) – 50.68, Sashana Johnson (Hydel) – 52.37, and Sydney Sutton (Bullis) – 52.45.
Union Cathlolic Shatters DMR Record
Union Catholic obliterated the girl's distance medley relay record by more than four seconds, clocking 11:24.53, the second-fastest time in U.S. high school history. The previous mark, held by Tatnall since 2012, fell as Paige Sheppard anchored in 4:41.65, one of the fastest finishes in Penn Relays history. Sheppard was named the 2025 Penn Relays
High School Girls' Relay Athlete of the Meet.
Providence Women Smash 17-Minute Barrier in Historic 4x1500m
Providence College's women's 4x1500m relay team made history at the 2025 Penn Relays, becoming just the third NCAA squad to ever break the 17-minute barrier, clocking in at 16:59.65. This performance not only earned them a spot in the NCAA record books but also underscored Providence's long-standing tradition of excellence in distance running.
Green Leads Washington to DMR and 4xMile Glory
Nathan Green led the University of Washington to double relay victories at the Penn Relays. He anchored the distance medley relay (DMR) with a blazing 3:55.15 for 1600 meters, helping Washington capture the win in 9:25.22, the fastest DMR time at the meet since 2013. Green returned the next day to anchor the Huskies to another victory in the 4xMile, showcasing his strength and consistency across both events.
