We are excited to introduce a new Penn Relays event! Coming this November, join us at The Jane and David Ott Center for Track and Field, on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania, for the inaugural, Penn Relays Mile Showcase!
 
Use all of that fall XC and marathon training fitness and set a new mile PB on the fast 200m banked Ott Center track. There will be a section for every pace and to help with each section, utilization of our pace lights! Join us for racing, music and fun. You're not going to want to miss this!

Q: How will the event be seeded?
A: Each section will be assigned based on your PB. All races will be coed, unless otherwise noted. 
 
Q: What sections will run first?
A: Sections will be faster throughout the evening.  Exact assignments won't be known until after registration closes. 
 
Q: Who is eligible to participate?
A: This is an all-comers event open to all. The sanctioning will be done through USATF and so all participants will be representing themselves or their clubs. HS and college athletes will not be able to use this event for state or NCAA qualification purposes. Marks will not appear on TFRRS since it is not an NCAA event. 
 
Q: What are pace lights?
A: Pace lights are colored LED lights that are aligned with the inside rail. The lights turn on and off as they go around the track at the pre-programed pace. This allows athletes to be able to run with the lights to help with pacing. For each individual section we will utilize pace lights to help the athletes run a specified pace. 
 
Q: What pace will the lights be set to?
A: This will be determined once the sections have been finalized after registration, but they will likely be set a few seconds faster than the fastest seed time in each section. In some cases we will utilize multiple pace lights in one section. Each pace will be displayed with a different color. 
 
Q: Are spectators allowed?
A: Yes! We encourage everyone to come out and cheer on the competitors. This is a free event for spectators.
