Throws Information

Weights & Measures

Location of the Weights & Measures stations
  • The Hammer, Discus, and Shot Put stations are located at the Ellen Vagelos C'90 Field in the dugout area.
  • The Javelin station is located at the Irving "Moon" Mondschein Throwing Complex beside the javelin runway.
  • Each station will have visible signage for identification.
Weights & Measures hours of operation
  • Implement inspection opens at 7:00am each day and concludes at the end of the day's last throwing event.
  • Athletes/coaches must bring implements for inspection no later than 45 minutes before their event start time.
  • Only bring implements for events being held on a particular day. (Implements will not be held overnight.)
Implement inspection process
  • Implements will be inspected on the spot.
  • If the implement passes, it will receive the mark of the day and be returned to the athlete/coach for transport to the venue.
  • If the implement fails, it will be impounded at the implement inspection station until the end of the event. The implement event and school/athlete name will be added to the impound sheet. Once the event has concluded, an athlete/coach can retrieve their implement(s) after signing for it on the impound sheet.
  • For failed implements, tools will be available for an athlete/coach to use to attempt to make an implement legal. This work must be done by the athlete/coach if he or she chooses to do so.
***High School implements will be inspected using current NFHS rules. Collegiate implements will be inspected using current NCAA rules.***

Miscellaneous
  • Be mindful that the Weights & Measures stations are not seating areas for coaches/athletes.
  • Remember to pick up any impounded implements at the end of the competition.
