In 1979, Nehemiah anchored winning Maryland teams in the Shuttle Hurdles, the 4x200m and the 4x400m with anchor legs of 19.4 and 44.3 to overcome large deficits. As a freshman the year before, he anchored the winning 4x100m and won the 110m Hurdles.
