Walsh was one of the few people to win four successive championships in the same event, as she dominated the women’s discus throw in the 1980s. Her Carnival record of 182' 10" came in her first year of 1982, and lasted as the meet record until 1994. She is the only discus thrower, male or female, to win the title four times.
