As a Lafayette High School junior, Lassiter won the high school 1500, then repeated in 1995.  Continuing a memorable career at Arkansas, he anchored the Razorbacks to six championships, including a triple win in the distance medley, 4x800 and 4-mile relay in 1999.  His anchor mile in the latter event was run in 3:55.6, which remains the fastest mile split in Penn Relays history.
