Penn Relays

Kevin Sullivan of Michigan delivered a stunning performance at the 1998 Penn Relays, earning the title of Male Athlete of the Meet. Anchoring the University of Michigan’s distance medley relay team, Sullivan split 3:55.5, sprinting past Arkansas’ Seneca Lassiter in the final stretch to secure victory with a time of 9:27.64. Sullivan and Lassiter had many epic battles at the Penn Relays creating an annual rivalry of distance relays between Arkansas and Michigan. Sullivan’s heroic anchor gave Michigan its first victory in the event since 1960!
