Manhattan ’52
On a team which included Lindy Remigino, the Olympic 100-meter gold medalist in 1952, it was Carty who was the anchor runner on Manhattan’s winning 440 and 880-yard relays in 1951 and 1952. A great all-around sprinter, he also led off the championship mile relay team in ’52, helping Manhattan become only the second school until then to win the sprint relay triple.
